Dam and tailings facility monitoring
Measurements within the dam body and foundation: settlement, movement, temperature, and seepage.
Discuss your facility
What we monitor
- Dam body settlement and displacement
- Water level and pressure
- Temperature and seepage
From on-site measurements to information for staff
Parameters and instrument selection depend on the structure, operating conditions, and existing systems.
On-site monitoring
We select measurement points and instruments for the changes being monitored.
Collection and transmission
We connect measurements to the shared system using the available communication and infrastructure.
Monitoring and events
We set up archives, change visualization, and alerts for responsible staff.
Purpose
The system supports long-term observation of earth dams and tailings embankments. Settlement, movement, seepage and temperature measurements help assess changes in the structure and decide when inspection is needed.
Monitored parameters
- Settlement of the dam crest and foundation
- Horizontal movement of the crest relative to the foundation
- Position of the seepage surface within the dam
- Signs of concentrated seepage, internal erosion, cracks and subsidence
- Temperature of the foundation ground and dam body
Monitored assets
- Earth dams
- Tailings storage embankments
- The dam body and its foundation
Possible system components
The following families and instruments are examples. The final selection is defined by the project.
Settlement sensorsHSSG Hydrostatic level sensorMeasures vertical displacement and structural settlement from changes in liquid levels in connected vessels. Suitable for foundations, hydraulic structures, and geotechnical monitoring.
Level sensorsPLLG D01 Water level sensorMeasures groundwater levels in observation boreholes. Transmits readings over RS-485 for long-term monitoring of foundations, hydraulic facilities, and slopes.
Settlement sensorsLNGG Displacement sensorMonitors movement along two or three coordinates. The measurement system includes a laser emitter, target, and electronic unit.
Level sensorsPLLG Pore pressure sensorMeasures water pressure between soil particles. Used to monitor seepage, ground foundations, dams, quarries, and landslide processes.
Level sensorsPLLG Pressure piezometerMeasures water pressure in pressurized boreholes, pipelines, and tanks. Can be incorporated into wired or wireless data acquisition systems.
Level sensorsPLLG-D22 LoRaWAN piezometerBattery-powered piezometer with LoRaWAN measurement transmission. Monitors water level and pressure without a permanent cable connection to the server.Let’s discuss your task
